Browse hotels and save money on flights — plus other tools for travel this summer

If you’ve ever used Google Flights to book a trip, you know it can be a very handy tool for finding great deals on flights. And now Google has revealed some new travel-based features that could help individuals, families, and groups save some money, find places to stay, and even book tickets to certain attractions from their smartphones.

According to details shared in Google’s blog post announcing the new features, Google Flights will offer a price guarantee program that will offer refunds on booked tickets if the price gets cheaper before the flight takes off. It will monitor the price daily until departure and users will receive a refund of the difference in price via Google Pay. The feature is currently available as a pilot program in the US.

It is worth noting that the offer is applicable only on selected flights marked by the price guarantee badge and the flight must be departing from the US. According to the terms and conditions, the price difference must be more than $5 to get the cash back, and the payments are capped at $500 per calendar year. Another requirement to qualify for the guaranteed flight offer is tickets must be booked through Google Flights. If you want more information about the program, you can read the price guarantee program’s FAQ. Google didn’t stop there with the enhancements to their travel search functions. Another new feature can help you find the best hotel to stay in while traveling. When using Google Search or Maps, you can type something like “best Nashville hotels” and tap to view more info. From there you can view photos of each hotel listed on the map in a format akin to Instagram Stories. This new feature allows users get summaries of each hotel, the ability to save hotel listings for future viewing, and more.

Finally, Google made discovering new or interesting things to do a little easier. If you have a specific attraction you know you want to buy tickets for, Google Search and Maps lets you view prices for those specific locations. You can even pay for tickets for those attractions ahead of time instead of having to wait in line the day you want to visit them.

Preparing and planning trips can be stressful enough without the worry that you may have booked that ideal flight at the wrong time and spent more money than necessary. And it’s commonly known that most airline flights have prices that can fluctuate widely on a daily, and even hourly, basis. Google Flights’ new feature should eliminate some headaches when people are trying to save money and with the additions to Search and Maps, Google is contending to be the go-to when it comes to tickets for flights, tours, attractions and more.
